Second to the MET in size, The Brooklyn  Museum has a collection of over 1.5 million works.  The Beaux-Arts building by McKim, Mead and White houses a significant collection of antiquities, including Egyptian, African, Oceanic, and Japanese art.  American art is thoroughly represented with works by Rothko, Hopper, Rockwell, Homer, Degas, O’Keeffe, and Weber.  Look for interesting and well-curated temporary exhibitions.  Closed Mondays and Tuesdays.
