Jazztopad Festival Presents the Lutosławski Quartet With Brooklyn-Based Violinist Mark Feldman and Pianist Sylvie Courvoisier at National Sawdust

The resident ensemble of the National Forum of Music (Wroclaw, Poland), the Lutoslawski Quartet has celebrated its tenth anniversary this year with a bang: being nominated for a BBC Music Magazine Award. Their 20th-century musical specialties include Polish music, jazz and classical music from the romantic period. The quartet will collaborate with Swiss-born, Brooklyn-based pianist Sylvie Courvoisier who has recorded more than 60 albums over the years for a variety of avant/out labels. In addition to a number of projects and bands, so co-leads the Courvoisier/Feldman Quartet with well-traveled violinist Mark Feldman who works in the jazz, improvisation and 20th-century classical worlds. Feldman has been commissioned by Jazztopad to write a new composition that will get its premiere at National Sawdust. —Dan Ouellette
