Rocky

Winter Garden Theatre

1634 Broadway, NYC

CLOSES AUGUST 17th: Though not a knock out, Rocky is a fun night at the theater. The movie is intelligently recreated with a set and visuals that engagingly move the story. The original movie sound track augments a solid score by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty (Ragtime, Once On This Island). Like the movie, much of the success of the show relies on the charm and charisma of the title character, here the Broadway newcomer Andy Karl (Sylvester Stalone is a show producer). The final fight scene is worth the price of admission, but sit in the mezzanine for the best view.
