Sunday in the Park with George with Jake Gyllenhall for a Limited Run

Hudson Broadway Theatre

139-141 West 44th Street, New York, NY 10036

Yet another great transfer from the New York City Center producers — directly (almost) from its three-night/four performance run in October, this production is being transported to the brand-new Hudson Theatre for a “10-week only” limited run.

Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine’s Pulitzer Prize–winning masterpiece follows painter Georges Seurat (Academy Award nominee Jake Gyllenhaal) in the months leading up to the completion of his most famous painting, A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte. Consumed by his need to “finish the hat,” Seurat alienates the French bourgeoisie, spurns his fellow artists, and neglects his lover Dot (Tony Award winner Annaleigh Ashford), not realizing that his actions will reverberate over the next 100 years. Rediscover Sondheim and Lapine’s achingly heartfelt musical about the two things we leave behind: children and art. This production is directed by Sarna Lapine.
