Seventh Avenue at 57th Street, New York, NY 10019
The Takacs Quartet plays the U.S. premiere of a Carnegie Hall co-commission, Carl Vine’s String Quartet No. 6, Child’s Play. Also on the program is Haydn’s Fifths String Quartet, which schol H. C. Robbins Landon calls “one of the most serious, learned, and intellectually formidable works he ever wrote.” The concert ends with Mendelssohn String Quintet No. 2 in B-flat Major, Op. 87. A pre-concert talk begins at 6:30pm in Zankel Hall with Takacs Quartet first violinist Edward Dusinberre and Carnegie Hall Director of Artistic Planning, Jeremy Geffen.
The Takacs Quartet also plays a different program on October 14 at Zankel Hall; for more information click here.
