Wagner ‘Der Fliegende Holländer’ at Met Opera

The Metropolitan Opera

30 Lincoln Center Plaza, New York, NY 10023

There any number of reasons to take in this production at the Met (five nights only), not the least of which is one should take every opportunity to hear this beautiful score live. But the Met offers more incentive to take in this particular offering. First, it is conducted by Met Opera music director designate Yannick Nézet-Séguin in his only appearance this year in the house. Next is the opportunity to hear the fine Michael Volle, a new bass who has excited the vocal world. Jay Hunter Morris returns to the Met as Eric, the first time since he stepped into the role of Siegfried in the Met’s last Ring Cycle. Amber Wagner sings Senta with Dolora Zajick, Ben Bliss and Franz-Josef Selig rounding out the cast.
