Whitney Museum Biennial / March 17 — June 11, 2017

Whitney Museum

99 Gansevoort Street, between Washington Street and 10th Avenue

The Whitney Museum Biennial is one of the most important events in the global contemporary art scene, bringing together new and established artists under one roof. The co-curators of this show, Christopher Y. Lew and Mia Locks, have chosen a general theme of the formation of self and the individual’s place in society. The 63 participants (individuals and collective groups) have responded to this in a thoughtful way, using formats from drawing to video game design. Their ages, backgrounds, and experiences will try to give voice to a variety of views representing the world we live in today. There is also a film program running on weekends starting March 19. Some showings require tickets, the artists who made the films will be giving a short talk afterwards, check the website for details. —A. E. Colas

The Biennial Exhibition runs from March 17 — June 11, 2017. For more information click here; to buy tickets click here.
