Gluzman, Tchaikovsky and Orpheus Chamber Orchestra at Carnegie February 4
57th Street and Seventh Avenue, New York, NY 10019
Violinist Vadim Gluzman joins Orpheus Chamber Orchestra for the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto, playing the 1690 ex-Leopold Auer Stradivarius used in the works premiere. The New York Times calls his playing “…balanced thoughtfulness and visceral power.” Mendelssohn’s “Scottish” symphonic recollections are awash¬†with local color and lost folk melodies. Michael Hersch’s End Stages, in a New York premiere, contemplates physical illness and mortality.
