Dust Off Those Dancing Shoes at Midsummer Night Swing at Lincoln Center
ZEALnyc, June 21, 2018
It’s that time of year again when the Damrosch Bandshell Plaza at Lincoln Center is transforming into an outdoor dance hall as Midsummer Night Swing commences its three-week residency, hosting a variety of artists performing a wide-range of dance styles. This much-anticipated series presents evenings of everything from Swing to Salsa, Disco to Tango, and Rock n’ Roll and Rhythm and Blues, at this starlit venue. This year’s season opens on Tuesday, June 26 and runs through Saturday, July 14, 2018.
The dance floor opens each evening at 6:00pm with an optional group dance lesson from 6:30pm — 7:15pm. The bands play two one-hour sets; the first from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., and the second from 9:00 p.m. — 10:00 p.m., with a break in between. For the fifth year in a row there will be a “silent disco” from 10:00pm — 11:30pm (headset rental available); dates: June 28 and July 13.
If you’re running from work, or end up working up an appetite while dancing, there are a number of food truck options, such as Hill Country BBQ, Korilla Korean BBQ, L’Arte del Gelato, and Motorino Meatball, plus the Fun Bar will be featuring specialty frozen rosé, summer cocktails, wines and beers, all available at Damrosch Park from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on evenings with scheduled performances.
