Though there are hundreds of branches of the New York Public Library all over the city and the state, the biggest and most beloved one is its main branch, also known as the Stephen A. Schwartzman building. Its majestic front entrance is guarded by two marble lions named Patience and Fortitude. The library not only offers a beautiful, quiet place to read in the Rose Reading Room, but it also offers classes for adults continuing education and free tours around the historic landmark.
