Sounds of Change at Carnegie Hall

Carnegie Hall

Seventh Avenue at 57th Street, New York, NY 10019

Click here for more information. The music, sights and words that invigorated a nation, stirred protests and effected change in the 1960s are celebrated. Folk songs and R&B classics like Sam Cooke’s A Change Is Gonna Come and Marvin Gaye’s What’s Going On, Jimi Hendrix’s Purple Haze and We Shall Overcome – the anthem of the era – defined a time when voices were raised and arms were interlocked in a movement seeking justice and social change.  This event is part of Carnegie Hall’s The ’60s: The Years that Changed America.
