The Dumbo in Brooklyn
Katrina Alonso, Contributing Writer, March 22nd, 2016
Just across the river from Manhattan, on the other side of the Brooklyn Bridge, sits Dumbo, one of New York City’s most interesting parks. This neighbourhood, whose name stands for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass, is home to a few of New York’s culinary icons, as well as some of the best-kept secrets of the city. Grimaldi’s, known to many as the best pizza place in New York City, made its debut in this neighbourhood. Jacques Torres also set up his first chocolate shop here. PowerHouse Arena, one of the city’s famous independent booksellers, calls Dumbo its home as well as other attractions like the Brooklyn Bridge Park, Bargemusic, Pier 5, and Jane’s Carousel.
